Overview
MasterCard’s Employees Driving the Global Enterprise (EDGE) program, was designed to coordinate MasterCard’s global workforce. This online experience needed to create a foundation in how an employee can articulate the company’s mission, to better serve their customers and improve collaboration with internal teams worldwide.
Execution
Our biggest goal was to showcase the importance of communication. We proposed a day-in-the-life concept, where the user would go about their day, and encounter common scenarios involving MasterCard’s services. We modeled conversations with a diverse cast of characters going about their daily routines. This provided an empowering user experience, because it lets them learn through experimentation, in a relatable, but culturally universal, context.
We augmented this with video and interactive elements to show how these small personal moments fit in with the bigger global picture. Because the target audience consisted mainly of younger employees, we were able to add game-like elements, such as a hub-world navigation, and open, non-linear progression. These elements helped create a sandbox that encouraged exploration, and safely allowed risk taking.
Outcome
The goal of the EDGE program was to connect MasterCard’s global workforce, and our online experience formed the first words of that conversation. Feedback was exceptionally positive, and users demonstrated a marked improvement in team collaboration and client communication. This positive impact resulted expanding the program with more experiences, and well as incorporating it into their onboarding training for all new employees.
